Today marks 15 years of the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and Venezuela, signed in Caracas by Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro and the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez.
The Agreement was signed in Caracas on October 30, 2000, by Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro and the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, motivated by the desire to strengthen the traditional ties of friendship between the two countries.
Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, is carrying out a high-level visit to Cuba, Granma newspaper reported today.
According to the daily, Mayorkas visit is part of the efforts by the governments of Cuba and the United States to move forward in the process of normalization of bilateral relations.
The visit to Cuba of Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, is today another step in the strengthening of cooperation ties between both nations.

The President of Italian Council of Ministers, Matteo Renzi, opened here today a bilateral business forum, which will seek to explore trade and investment opportunities.
Renzi, who is accompanied by a large group of businessmen, arrived in Cuba yesterday, from Colombia, after also visiting Chile and Peru.
The Cuban-Italian relationships are cordial and stable, with prospects to be expanded and deepened.
“It is disappointing that the United States has voted against our resolution,” said Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla in a press conference following the overwhelming vote in the UN General Assembly calling for an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba.
Rodríguez described the U.S. vote as unfounded, and reiterated that, as long as the blockade continues to be strictly enforced, the General Assembly will continue condemning it.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez is in New York for the UN General Assembly vote on the Cuban-sponsored resolution on the necessity to end economic, commercial and financial blockade that Washington has maintains against the island.

Workers at the newspaper Juventud Rebelde have given special recognition to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and to Cuban President Raul Castro, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the daily's foundation.
